Platinum Jubilee of Poonch Link-Up Day, marking the Operation Easy conducted by Indian Army in 1948 to defend the border district from the invading Pakistani raiders was celebrated with traditional gaiety and fervor by people of Poonch and Indian Army in District Poonch on Tuesday. Remembering the supreme sacrifice of the soldiers and citizens of the region defending Poonch, GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi, GOC White Knight Corps Lt Gen Manjinder Singh and other senior military and civil dignitaries laid the wreath and paid tributes at Namansthal War Memorial. Local residents of the area including a large number of serving and retired Army personnel, members of civil administration and students were present to witness the event. The Army Commander Northern Command interacted with Veer Matas, Veer Naris, War Heroes of 1965 & 1971 War. Later talking to the media, GoC-in-C Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi urged the youth of Kashmir to come forward and join the nation mainstream for their bright future. He asked the youth of J&K to see while India has become the Head of G-20 Group of Countries where Pakistan stands at present and what it has achieved.
