The Planning Commission has given investment clearance for flood protection works on the banks of river Ghatprabha in Belgaum District of Karnataka.The estimated cost of this project is over 34 crore rupees. The project will be completed during the next financial year.According to an official release, the project will strengthen the right bank of the river and avoid the damages to residential and commercial areas.The scheme is likely to benefit an area of 146 hectares of residential and commercial land.
