The Planning Commission on Wednesday finalized an annual plan worth 22,124 crore rupees to West Bengal for the year 2011-12. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting held in New Delhi between the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Mr Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Chief Minister of West Bengal Ms Mamta Banerjee. Mr Ahluwalia said, the State needs to accelerate growth and make it more inclusive. He said the focus of the development initiatives should be health, education and employment generation. In her response on the development strategy, Ms Banerjee said that focus will be on faster and more inclusive growth on a sustainable basis. She also said that better opportunities for employment and income generation will be created.
