Planning Commission favours payment of minimum wages under MGNREGA. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia elaborated that it has to decide that whether the Centre or the States will bear the burden of wages beyond 100 rupees. Earlier addressing a seminar on Rational Minimum Wage Policy Mr Ahluwalia said that MGNREGA has empowered the labour class and increased the wage rate. Left leaders Sitaram Yechury and D Raja also addressed the seminar.
