Planning Commission approves Meghalaya’s annual plan of around 4,000 cr for current fiscal

The Planning Commission today approved the annual plan of around four thousand crore rupees of Meghalaya for the current financial year. This was finalized in a meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister of the state, Mukul Sangma in New Delhi.Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ahluwalia advised the state government to make full use of Science and Technology in improving pace of development. He said Meghalaya should also encourage public private partnership in all sectors of economy. He said the commission will have major focus on water management during 12th five year Plan. The Chief Minister, Mr. Sangma pointed out that as part of its inclusive growth strategy, the state government has decided to transfer funds and functionaries of major departments to panchayati raj institutions.
