Plane crashes in Nepal, 10 Indians among 19 killed

Ten Indian nationals were among 19 people killed today when a small plane carrying them crashed at Kotdanda hills in Lalitpur district near the Nepalese capital while returning from a mountain flight. The Beach Aircraft which crashed at 7.30 am local time, belonged to the private Buddha Air airline and had a total of 19 people aboard, including a three-member crew. Apart from 10 Indians and three crew, the plane had three Nepalese passengers and three foreigners, whose identities were yet to be established. The aircraft, which had taken tourists to view Mount Everest and other high peaks, crashed at Kotdanda hills in Lalitpur district when it was returning to Kathmandu. The Indian nationals killed in the crash have been identified as Pankaj Mehta, Chhaya Mehta, H D Nagaraja, S Nagaraja, I Nagaraja, L Nagaraja, D Talosubrisum, D P Talosubrisum, Nagraja Talosubrisum and P Talosubrisum. In a statement, the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said, it is in constant touch with the Nepalese authorities who are carrying out search and relief operations at the site of the crash. The Embassy is providing all assistance for the prompt evacuation of the remains of the Indian nationals killed in the accident.
