Plane crash kills ten Indians among 19 in Nepal

10 In Nepal, ten Indians are among the nineteen killed in an crash in a hill south- of Kathmnadu’s Tribhuvan International airport this morning. While eighteen were killed on the spot, one succumbed to injuries in hospital. The flight was carrying sixteen passengers and three crew. The crash took place at Kotdanda in Lalitpur district while approaching the airport in cloudy weather after a mountain flight. The flight took off at 6.40 am local time and lost contact with the Control tower at around 7.30 am local time. The bodies have been recovered and brought to a Kathmandu hospital. A Three member inquiry Committee has been set headed by Former Director- general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Rajeshraj Dali to investigate the crash. According to the Indian Embassy, the Indians who were aboard the ill-fated flight were M. Maruthachalam, A.K Krisunan, V.M Kankasabesan, T Dhansekaran, Kattor Mahalingam, Meenakshi Sundaram, K Thyagarajan, Pankaj Mehta, Chaya Mehta. Expressing grief the Indian Embassy at Kathmandu has said it is providing all assistance for the prompt evacuation of the remains of the Indian nationals killed in the accident.
