Plane crash in Iran kills 29 people

In Iran, 29 passengers including crew members were killed when a civilian aircraft crashed near Mehrabad airport in Teheran on Sunday.

Iran’s Deputy Minister of Transportation Ahmad Majidi confirmed the death toll on state TV and said nine others were injured in the incident.

Entire crew was Iranian and there were no foreigners on the plane.

The AN-140 aircraft, belonging to Taban Airlines, was flying to Tabas from Teheran and crashed shortly after take-off from the Mehrabad airport Sunday morning.

The aircraft crashed near a residential area soon after one of its engines failed during the take off. However, there were no casualties on the ground.
