The Planning Commission has finalized an annual plan outlay of over 14 thousand crore rupees for Kerala for the financial year 2012-13. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting between Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy in New Delhi today. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ahluwalia drew the attention of the State towards falling growth in agriculture and suggested to take initiatives aimed at reviving interest in agriculture including crop diversification and allied sectors. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister of State for Planning, Mr Ashwani Kumar said that the State should focus on area specific approach while designing strategy for revival of agriculture and pointed out that the sector can address the problem of unemployment as well as over urbanisation.Mr.Chandy said the Annual Plan 2012-13 will give the agriculture sector top priority by providing substantial increase in the outlay
