The Annual Plan of 8, 200 crore rupees for the current fiscal for Uttarakhand has been finalised at a meeting between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Mr. Vijay Bahuguna in New Delhi. Commenting on the plan performance of the state, Mr Ahluwalia said the commission is fully aware of the infrastructure deficit in Uttarakhand and their constraint in meeting the cost of infrastructure development. He said the state needs to further encourage private sector participation in infrastructure development. Speaking on the ocassion, Mr. Bahuguna said being a hill-state, the state will appreciate a Comprehensive Water Management Programme which would look at irrigation, flood control, water recharging and soil conservation measures in a holistic way.
