Plan Commission meeting on eastern region begins in Patna

The meeting between Planning Commission and representatives of five eastern states of the country is underway at Patna to draft the approach paper for the 12the five year Plan. AIR Patna correspondent reports the approach paper would also streamline the basic frame work on agriculture, social sectors to ensure inclusive growth. The Planning Commission will record the views of the participating five states before finalising the approach papers. Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and West Bengal are participating in this meeting. Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia is presiding over the proceedings. Besides Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Odisha Chief Minister Navin Patnaik, Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren and Sudesh Mahto, representatives of Chattisgarh and West Bengal are participating in the deliberations.
