Power Minister Piyush Goyal today launched MERIT app (Merit Order Despatch of Electricity for Rejuvenation of Income and Transparency) and e-bidding portal for providing e-Bidding solution to States to select Independent Power Producers (IPPs). <br/><br/>On the occasion, Mr Goyal said Merit App is one more step to stop corruption. He said it will bring transparency in states' power distribution and sales. He said in next 5 to 7 years, this system will save 20 thousand crore rupees. Mr Goyal said this was the fastest developed app from his Ministry.<br/><br/>He said both the initiatives are taken in the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of minimum government and maximum governance through speed, skill and scale. Mr Goyal said use of technology to increase transparency and accountability and transfer maximum benefit to the consumer reflects a government's in action. The Minister added government is dedicated to ensure access to affordable, quality, 24×7 Power for All.<br/><br/>He said India has rapidly achieved adequacy in terms of availability of power, over the last three years, The Minister said, it is the time to shift the focus to optimal utilization of the valuable and scarce energy resources for achieving economy and efficiency in operation.<br/><br/><br/><br/>
