Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal launched Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) for urban areas of Allahabad this evening. While launching the scheme Mr Goyal also announced that government has allocated Rs 20 crore for construction of nine more power substations in Allahabad District. Speaking on this occasion Minister said that he has started his inspection of ongoing projects and current status of power situation in the state. Earlier Power Minister also launched Deen Dayal Upadhya Gram Jyoti Yojana in four rural areas of Allahabad district. <br/><br/>Mr. Goyal lauded the efforts of government for rural electrification said that 1294 villages completely electrified in last eighteen months in Uttar Pradesh .Minister said that D D Y Gram jyoti Yojana will change the life style of villagers to a considerable extent. He said both rural and urban power schemes will ensure sufficient power to farmers and other urban consumers.Earlier Minister also inspected NTPC Meja power plant at Meja near Allahabad. It is expected that the new power plant will be commissioned by the end of year.
