Piyush Goyal asks manufacturers to make affordable LED bulb for consumers

Power Minister Piyush Goyal has asked the LED bulb manufacturers to make the bulbs affordable for the consumers. Announcing the milestone of distribution of over three crore LED bulbs under Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme, DELP in New Delhi today, Mr Goyal urged the industry to join the Make in India programme for manufacturing the basic components of LED bulbs in the country. <br/><br/>He suggested the industry to look for more innovative retail platforms. He said, the world today is looking at the massive roll out of LED programme in India and many countries are adopting the programme. Appreciating the efforts of by Energy Efficiency Services Limited, EESL for achieving the historic milestone, Mr Goyal said that the success of the programme will strengthen India's stand at forthcoming COP21 at Paris and will present India as a responsible nation.<br/><br/>Mr Goyal also interacted with the industry representatives in which he took their feedback and suggestions on the DELP programme. The Minister assured all the stakeholders his full support for the growth of the industry. On the occasion, the Minister also released Monitoring and Verification Report of Street Lighting and DELP Projects.
