National Knowledge Commission Chairman Sam Pitroda has favoured application of information and communication technology in the small and medium enterprises in a big way saying that these will play an important role in the development of the nation in the next decade.He was addressing the small and medium enterprises and IT Summit in Mumbai on Friday. He said this was one sector, which would largely contribute in the overall economic growth, modernisation of infrastructure, employment generation and development of auxiliary business.The National Knowledge Commission Chairman said ICT was important in every aspect of life. Today, it is used in various sectors like manufacturing, infrastructure, education, health, railways and power. He said there was not a single sector which was not dependent on IT and the small and medium enterprises sector must to adopt it.
