<span style="color: #222222;">In Mizoram, pisciculture has started receiving a good momentum as fishery department has accelerated the implementation of schematic programmes. Under the blue revolution scheme, the department has taken a key role to help the fish farmers double their income. The blue revolution scheme, aimed at expanding pisciculture from breeding to rearing, has created much enthusiasm among the fish farmers.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">K. Hrangliana of Ramthar in Lunglei district has built up a fish farm with the support from the fishery department. Hrangliana said, he has received financial assistance and continuous technical support from the department. His fish farm has become mature with the production being increased gradually. Hrangliana said that he is earning a good amount every month and fishes from his farm are sold at Rs.400 per kg in the local market.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Fishery Development Officer Zohmingthanga of Lunglei said, a good number of fish farms have been built as many farmers showed interest in fish farming. He said, the hundreds of farmers were given all helps including supply of Indian major Carp fishlings. The department has also built a fish seed farm for producing more marketable fishlings.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp; </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Under the blue revolution scheme, 64% of funds is given by the central government and the rest 46% is provided by the state. Under the scheme, the department extends help to the farmers for setting up of farmhouses, making fish ponds and development of water logged areas. The fishery officer Zohmingthanga informed that each of the beneficiaries is provided Rs 1,17,000/- for setting up of farmhouse, Rs 37,800 for making ponds. And also, Rs 32,400 is given for rearing area and Rs 54,000 for water logged area development. He said in total a farmer gets Rs.27 lakh.</span><br />
