In Kerala, heavy polling has been reported in Piravom assembly constituency by-election. People turned out in large numbers this morning at the polling booths where nine candidates are in the fray. Of the 134 polling stations in the constituency, 24 have been identified as sensitive. No untoward incident has been reported from any part of the constituency so far. Meanwhile, the Ernakulam Rural police have registered a case against LDF MLAs, N Krishnan Nair and Suresh Kurup, for violating election laws. The counting will be held on Wednesday. The by-election was necessitated due to the death of the state Minister of Food and Civil Supplies T M Jacob, who represented the constituency.
