In Uttar Pradesh, a Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court seeking a CBI probe into the expenses during the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party rally at Lucknow on 15th of this month including the controversial garland of currency notes. Three local lawyers have filed the PIL alleging that about 175 crore rupees of public money was spent in the rally and 25 crore rupees on the garland. The PIL is likely to come up for hearing on Monday.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh state unit of Samajwadi Party has demanded registration of an FIR against Chief Minister Mayawati for publicly accepting garlands of currency notes. State Secretary of the party Mr. Mujahid Kidwai has said that money garland has made a mockery of the RBI's mandatory guidelines on the country's currency.
