<span style="color: #222222;">The government said, the Fact Check Unit, FCU, in Press Information Bureau, PIB, has responded to 28 thousand 578 actionable queries till date. Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Information & Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said, the Government has statutory and institutional mechanisms in place to prevent spread of fake news. He said, the FCU established in November 2019, takes cognizance of fake news suo-motu, queries through emails and on social media. Mr. Thakur said, FCU also maintains presence on all prominent social media platforms.</span><br />
