Philippines tropical storm Death toll rises to 36

In the Philippines, the death toll from a tropical storm, Conson, that tore through the country this week has risen to 36. More than 40 people remained missing as of late last night. The tally of damaged houses also increased to 11,230. More than 900 houses have been destroyed. <br/><br/>Conson, known locally as "Basyang," started as a typhoon before weakening to a tropical storm and making landfall late Tuesday. The storm is expected to move northwest of the Philippines and into southern China today. Warning centre predicted heavy rain and flooding in southern China.
