The Philippines President Benigno Aquino on Wednesday sought to boost Chinese investment in his country with a pledge that his government will operate in a culture of transparency. Mr. Aquino has made the pledge in Beijing before a group of Chinese business executives at the Philippines-China Economic and Trade Forum. The Philippines leader is on a five-day state visit to China with a delegation of 300 business leaders. The two countries are expected to sign agreements that would boost trade by more than 50 billion dollars over the next five years. Mr. Aquino is due to hold talks later today with Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, followed by a meeting on Thursday with Prime Minister Wen Jiabao.
