Petronet LNG to set up Rs 4500 cr greenfield terminal in AP

The Petronet Liquified Natural Gas, LNG, will be setting up a greenfield LNG Terminal at Gangavaram in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of 4500 crore rupees.This will be the third terminal in the country to be set up by the company, after Dahej and Kochi .Addressing a press conference after the Board Meeting of the Company in Kochi on Friday, Petronet LNG Chairman and Secretary, Petroleum and Natural Gas, G C Chaturvedi said a feasibility study has been done for the terminal, which will have a capacity of five million metric tonnes per annum.He said the LNG Kochi project will be ready by July and will become operational by October this year.The remaining work on the pipelines to carry LNG to Bangaluru and Mangalore will be over by then. He said the proposal to restrict the number of cylinders per household is still under the consideration of the union government.Chaturvedi said during the quarter that ended in December, the turnover of Petronet LNG rose sharply to 6330 crores, an increase of over 75 per cent over the corresponding quarter last year.He said net profit of the company also increased to 295 crore rupees, an increase of 73 per cent over the corresponding period last year.
