In Kerala, petroleum price hike has led to noisy scenes in the state Assembly today. Due to persistent demand from the opposition, the Speaker has admitted an adjournment motion and discussion on the issue will be held in the afternoon.In reply to the motion piloted by former Finance Minister Dr. Thomas Issac, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy admitted that in the time of general price rise, increase in petroleum price is an added burden on the public. At the same time, he pointed out that the previous LDF regime had never forgone additional revenue to the state to reduce price burden on people.Saying that his government will not shy away from a discussion on petroleum price, the Chief Minister requested the Speaker to live telecast the entire discussion.Later, protesting against the release of former minister R Balakrishna Pillai from jail, the opposition walked out of the house.The issue was raised by opposition leader V S Achuthanandan in a point of order. He alleged that Supreme Court verdict and jail rules have been violated.However, quoting different judgments and precedents, the Chief Minister informed the house that in releasing Pillai, the government has maintained total transparency.Meanwhile, protesting against petrol price hike, the left motor vehicle unions have called for a dawn to dusk strike tomorrow.However, pro government UDF vehicle unions will not be participating in the strike
