Petroleum Ministry has denied media reports alleging a drop in expenditure in exploration activities. In a press note issued today Petroleum Ministry has said that the annual expenditure on exploration has nearly doubled between 2006-07 and 2010-11. The Ministry has pointed out that New Exploration Licensing Policy, NELP-9 has been awarded recently and the investment level are expected to increase further with development of discoveries.
