Petrol turns dearer by Rs 3.07 a litre, diesel up Rs 1.90

Price of petrol has been hiked by Rs 3.07 and that of diesel by Rs 1.90 a litre including VAT. The new rate came into effect midnight last night. <br/><br/>With this now, petrol will cost Rs 59.68 in Delhi, Rs 63.76 in Kolkata, Rs 65.79 in Mumbai and Rs 59.13 in Chennai. For diesel, the consumer will have to pay Rs 48.33 per litre in Delhi, Rs 50.75 in Kolkata, Rs 55.06 in Mumbai and Rs 49.09 in Chennai. <br/><br/>In a statement, Indian Oil Corporation said, the hike was necessitated by rising international prices of petrol and diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate.
