Petrol pumps to instal e-wallet facility

The retail outlets of Oil Marketing Companies across the country will train the general public on the use of various digital/cashless modes of payment. This was stated by Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi yesterday while launching the digital awareness campaign to educate the people about cashless transaction. <br/><br/>He said, trainers from the Common Services Centers of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will deploy trainers at these Retail Outlets to create awareness among the general public on cashless transaction. Mr. Pradhan said that in the first phase, all Retail Outlets numbering more than 53 thousand in the country will be covered in the campaign, which will be further expanded to cover Gas distributors, LPG Stations and Bottling Plants. He said, Petrol Pumps have been asked to make arrangements not only for Cashless transaction but also for dispensing cash through Point of Sale machines. <br/><br/>This initiative launched by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is being viewed as a step towards promoting the vision of the Prime Minister for a Cashless Economy.
