Petrol pumps and airports will not accept the old 500 rupee notes from today, while collection of toll at all toll plazas on National Highways also resumed midnight last night. The government has stopped the use of old 500 rupee notes for buying fuel at petrol pumps and purchasing tickets at airports from midnight last night.<br/><br/>However, old notes will continue to be accepted for other utility bill payments, at railway ticketing counters and counters of government or public sector undertaking buses for purchase of tickets till the 15th of this month. Supply of LPG also continues to be in the exempted category for payment through old 500 notes.<br/><br/>Collection of toll at all toll plazas on National Highways across the country also resumed midnight last night. However, old 500 rupee notes will be accepted for toll payment of above 200 rupees and purchase of FASTags. All 367 toll plazas on national highways have been equipped with adequate number of swipe machines for credit and debit cards users.
