Petrol price hiked by Rs2.35 per litre, diesel by 50 paise

Petrol price goes up by 2 rupees 35 paise per litre, and diesel by 50 paise. The increase is due to falling rupee and increase in international oil prices. The price excludes local sales tax or VAT. Indian Oil Corporation in a statement said that petrol now costs 74 rupee 10 paise per litre in Delhi, 77 rupees 48 paise in Chennai and 81 rupees 57 paise in Mumbai and Kolkata. This is the sixth increase in petrol price since June. Diesel price in Delhi will be 51 rupees and 97 paise per litre after the hike while it will cost 58 rupees 86 paise in Mumbai, 55 rupees 37 paise in Chennai and 56 rupees 33 paise in Kolkata. The hike in Diesel prices is the eighth since 17th of January this year. Due to fall in rupee value against dollar, oil firms are still losing 12 rupees and 12 paise per litre on diesel.
