Petrol price has been hiked by 3 rupees 13 paise per litre and diesel by 2 rupees 71 paise a litre. The new rates came into effect midnight last night.Petrol will now cost 66 rupees 29 paise a litre in Delhi, 73 rupees 76 paise in Kolkata, 74 rupees 12 paise in Mumbai and 69 rupees 45 paise per litre in Chennai. On the other hand, the diesel will cost 52 rupees 28 paise in Delhi, 56 rupees 85 paise in Kolkata, 59 rupees 86 paise in Mumbai and 55 rupees 74 paise in Chennai. Indian Oil Corporation said, the prices have been revised in view of the steep increase in the prices of diesel and petrol in the international market. The rates were last hiked on May 1,petrol by Rs 3.96 per litre and diesel by Rs 2.37 a litre,The State fuel retailers revise petrol and diesel prices on 1st and 16th of every month on the basis of average imported cost and rupee-dollar exchange rate in the previous fortnight.
