Petrol price has been hiked by 36 paise a litre, while the price of diesel has gone up by 87 paise per litre. The new rates came into effect midnight last night. With this, now petrol will cost Rs 61.06 a litre in Delhi, Rs 66.39 in Kolkata, Rs 68.13 in Mumbai and Rs 61.38 in Chennai. While Diesel will cost Rs 46.80 in Delhi, Rs 50.29 in Kolkata, Rs 54.04 in Mumbai and Rs 48 in Chennai. This is the first hike in petrol price in five months and the third in diesel rates since October. Indian Oil Corporation, in a statement, said that the current level of international product prices of petrol and diesel and Indian Rupee-US Dollar exchange rate warrant an increase in their prices.
