Petroleum dealers have called off their proposed strike from Monday. This follows an assurance from the government to look in to their demands sympathetically.Announcing this in New Delhi today General Secretary of Federation of All India Petroleum Traders Ajay Bansal said it was agreed that a committee will be set up to go into their demands on increasing their commission and finalise its recommendations within a period of three months. The committee will also look into the demand of rationalising the growth of retail outlets in the country. Petroleum minister Murli Deora, officials of public sector oil companies and representatives of the Federation were present at the talks today. Earlier Deora had called on the dealers not to go ahead with their agitation. The petro dealers are demanding among other things commission as a percentage of the retail price instead of a fixed amount on each litre of fuel.
