Delhi government has decided to build a permanent memorial to late former president APJ Abdul Kalam at famous Dilli haat at INA. The memorial will have the notes, books, clothes and other personal items of the former president. The state government will also have a permanent exhibition on Kalam where his books will be displayed and used for research and other purposes. It is set to be opened to the public on July 27 – Kalam's death anniversary. Delhi Tourism and Culture minister Kapil Mishra is traveling to Rameshwaram, Kalam's native place, to get his belongings back to New Delhi . Till the time a permanent structure is built, his belongings will be housed at the Delhi Assembly. After that, the belongings would be permanently placed at Dilli Haat.<br/><br/>After his death, Centre had sent Kalam's possessions from his residence in the national capital, to his native place at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. The Delhi government had constituted a team to safely bring Kalam's belongings back from Rameswaram. <br/><br/>The proposal was amended as the bungalow was allotted to Union Tourism and Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma forcing the AAP government to find an alternate location for the 'knowledge centre' in memory of Kalam. In November, the Delhi Assembly passed a resolution to set up a knowledge centre in the city to honour Kalam.
