The legendary French track and field sprinter Marie-Jose Perec has been named the international event ambassador for this year's TCS World 10 Thousand Run. The event will be held in Bengaluru on May 17. Perec said in a statement that she looks forward to standing at the start line of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru with all the enthusiastic runners, to cheer them on and wait at the finish line to celebrate their sense of accomplishments. Saying 'Namaste India, let's get our feet on the street," her statement further added that Running has the unique ability to build a strong sese of community. Perec has won three Olympic gold medals and is the first-ever athlete to win consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 400-metre dash.
