Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur has highlighted people to people contact, as critical component for better ties with Pakistan. Addressing business community from India and Pakistan in Chandigarh, she said, enhanced trade cooperation between two Punjabs will have far reaching benefits for consumer, producer and both the governments. She also took a round of the trade fair and evinced a lot of interest. Complimenting CII on strengthening India-Pakistan relations, Ms Kaur said, India cannot be a prosperous, and stable, if its neighbours as a whole are not economically prosperous and politically stable. Talking about the business potential between India and Pakistan, the minister said, the research estimates put the trade potential between the two countries at around 10 billion US dollars, however, the current trade is only 1.78 billion dollars. She said, while there are enormous opportunities for bilateral trade, what is needed is the political will and atmosphere of trust between the two countries to exploit this potential. Speaking on behalf of Confederation of Indian Industry, Gunbir Singh, Chairman, CII Punjab urged that forging a strong economic relationship between India and Pakistan has become imperative in emerging global economy and new international economic order, which can only be possible through continuous India-Pakistan dialogue.<br/>
