People of Delhi are shifting to the neighbouring states of Haryana and UP to buy diesel after the increase in VAT on Diesel by the Delhi government. A Diesel price in these states is cheaper by at least 4 rupees as compared to Delhi. Atul Pishodia, Chairman Delhi Petrol Diesel association says this has resulted in almost 50 percent decline in the diesel sales.Petrol pump owners are badly affected by the increased prices of diesel as their profits have suffered a severe setback. They want the government to keep their demands in mind says, Bhupinder Suri, a petrol pump owner.However Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's assurance that she would look into the matter has given some hope to them. They feel that VAT rates may be rolled back soon.
