In Jammu and Kashmir, people carrying small children on Sunday braved intermittent snowfall and cold making their way to over 350 Pulse Polio booths across Reasi district in response to the pulse polio immunisation drive. First time state health department has set up 7 pulse polio booths on 13 kilometer long Katra – Vaishno Devi track to facilitate the pilgrims visiting holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. Around 50 thousand children in the 0-5 age group are to be given polio drops. About fifteen hundred government employees from health, social welfare and other departments are managing the booths to make the programme a success. Supervisory and mobile teams were also deployed so that far-flung areas are also covered.
