In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, people are celebrating 73rd Anniversary of Accession of J&K with Indian Union today.<br />'' <br />''October 26 marks the Red Letter Day in Indian history as  Maharaja Hari Singh, the then ruler of Jammu & Kashmir signed the instrument of accession with Union of India, which paved a way for merger of the princely state with India.<br />'' <br />''On this day, several functions were organized to celebrate the accession. Importantly, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir  observed  a public holiday today for the first time since Independence.<br />'' <br />''A massive function was organized at Tagore Hall in Srinagar which commenced by garlanding the frames of Maharaja Hari Singh, Bharat Mata and Maqbool Sherwani.<br />'' <br />''It was followed by Tiranga rally led by BJP General Secretary and in-Charge for Kashmir Vibodh Gupta and BJP Vice-President and Co-in charge Kashmir Sofi Yusaf which began from Tagore Hall and concluded at Kashmir International Convention Centre, Srinagar.<br />'' <br />''Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gupta said that the overwhelming response from local people of Kashmir and massive participation in the Tiranga rally is the tight slap on those so-called leaders of Kashmir that have made seditious statements in the last few days.<br />'' <br />''He said that the dream J&K of Maharaj Hari Singh is being envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the mission of peace, prosperity and development in the valley is at its peak. <br />'' <br />''Mr Sofi expressed gratitude to the people of valley for joining the Tiranga rally and said that proud to see that people from diverse sections have come together in the valley to join the peace and prosperity mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.<br />''<b> </b><br />''<span style="color: #222222;">In Jammu, Bhartiya Janta Party organized a series of functions to celebrate the Accession Day.  Apart from hoisting tricolour in entire Jammu , the Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha activists took out a Bike Rally to celebrate the day.</span><br />
