People across globe express love for mothers on Mothers’ Day

People across the globe are celebrating Mothers' Day on Sunday to honour motherhood and express profound love for the mothers who make unconditional sacrifices for them. The day is being marked with enthusiasm as public and private organisations as well as schools have arranged colourful programmes for the celebrations.

The Delhi Government is hosting a week-long photo exhibition inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. The exhibition highlights the role of exemplary health workers who work towards making motherhood safe for underprivileged mothers, and commend their work to pay tribute to motherhood. A sculpture of a mother and child created by Padma Shri awardee Arjun Prajapati is also being exhibited on the occasion.

AIR correspondent reports, in today's times when Maa' has Changed into 'Mom', the role of mother has also undergone a sea change. Gone are the days when Mothers would just be associated with singing lullabies and making sacrifices. Today's Mom has moved forward with the new generation and has assumed the role of breadwinner for the family.

How much time may change, a mother will still dote on her son, still await her daughter's wedding, and strive for the happiness of her family. On this day let us salute all the mothers for every sacrifice they have made for the happiness of their children and and hardships they face in rearing up them.
