The US defence department Pentagon has asked mainstream media outlets not to publish the sensitive classified documents on Iraq which is expected to be leaked and posted online by whistleblower WikiLeak. Pentagon spokesman Col David lapan told reporters in an off camera briefing that WikiLeak is an irresponsible organisation and publication of such sensitive documents by the mainstream media would provide legitimacy to the whistleblower. Earlier WikiLeaks had released 77,000 classified documents related to the Afghan war, and is planning to release 400,000 documents on the Iraq war.
