Pema Khandu government in Arunachal Pradesh passes floor test

In Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has proved his majority during the floor test in the Assembly by voice vote today. <br/><br/>The Assembly also elected Tsering Norbu Thongdok as the new speaker of the House unopposed, following the resignation of former speaker Nabam Rebia on Tuesday. <br/><br/>After completion of the two agendas the Speaker adjourned the house sine die. In the 60 member house, with an effective strength of 58, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has the support of 47 MLAs, including the two independents. <br/><br/>Speaking in the Assembly Mr. Khandu asked all the members to cooperate in developing the state, keeping aside party differences. <br/><br/>He said that the present government will empower the MLAs in making financial decisions. <br/><br/>Former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki requested the members to reconcile on what has happened. <br/><br/>BJP MLA and Leader of Opposition Tamio Tagak asked the new Chief Minister not to leave aside and discriminate the opposition but to take questions and suggestions.
