Peaceful polling underway in 10 districts of Telangana in AP

In Andhra Pradesh, an average of over 31 per cent polling has been reported by 11 AM. Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal has said barring sporadic technical snags in the EVMs, polling is underway peacefully and smoothly in all the 10 districts of the Telangana region.

He said the EVMS were replaced at some places in Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Hyderabad districts. Live Webcasting is being arranged in about 13 thousand out of 30,518 polling stations for maintaining transparency.

The first citizen of the State and Governor ESL Narasimhan has exercised his franchise at the Rajnagar polling station near Rajabhavan. Several prominent persons including Chandrababu Naidu and most of the candidates have utilised their right to vote.

Polling is being held in 17 Lok Sabha and 119 Assembly constituencies in the first phase.

About 2 crore 82 lakh electors will exercise their franchise in over 30 thousand polling stations across Telengana region in the state.

Director General of Police Prasada Rao said polling is smoothly going on in the Maoist Affected sensitive areas. A strict vigil is being maintained in sensitive and hyper sensitive areas especially near the inter-state boarders with Odisha, Maharastra and Chattisgarh.
