Peaceful polling on in western UP

Polling in all 10 Lok Sabha constituencies of western Uttatr Pradesh is under way peacefully.

Polling was reported in first two hours by 9.00 AM in Baghpat Lok Sabha seat as – 9.6 percent, Muzaffarnagar-12.4, Kairana-12, Meerrut-15,Gautam Buddha nagar-11 and Ghaziabad-10 percent.

BJP candidate and former Mumbai Police Commissioner Dr Satpal Singh exercised franchise at his native place Basoli Villlage under Chaprauli Assembly segment in Bagpat constituency early this morning.

To facilitate and ensure franchise Separate polling centers for weaker sections of the society are set up at many places. District Election officer, Baghpat told AIR that no untoward incident has been reported so far.

Voting will be continue till 6.00 pm.

146 candidates, including 14 women are in the fray in the 10 constituencies in the state where polling is taking place today.

About 17 thousand polling booths have been set up for more than 1 crore 75 lakh voters. Above 4 thousand 300 micro observers are deployed to keep a vigil on polling centers.
