Peaceful by-elections in AP, 64 per cent polling recorded

In Andhra Pradesh, a little over 64 percent polling has been recorded in the by-elections being held for 12 Assembly constituencies. Polling was peaceful. Barring minor technical snags in Electronic Voting Machines at few polling stations, the polling began on time this morning. While ballot paper were used in 5 assembly segments, EVMs used in remaining 7 segments.Over 23 lakh 59 thousand voters will decide the political fate of a total 435 candidates including PCC President D Srinivas, state former Ministers Shabbir Ali, Vinod, Harish Rao and Taraka Rama Rao, son of TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao. By-election has been necessitated following resignation of elected representative in 12 assembly segments in the state.
