Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit says the peace process between India and Pakistan seems suspended at present.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Mr Basit said there is no meeting scheduled between the foreign secretaries of the two countries so far. He said it remains to be seen whether India and Pakistan are able to commence the dialogue process.

The High Commissioner said Pakistan's intention to have normal relations with India should not be doubted. He said Jammu and Kashmir issue is the root cause of mutual distrust.

On the proposed visit of National Investigation Agency to Pakistan to carry out probe into Pathankot terror attack, Mr Basit said, India's request is under consideration.

He, however, said this investigation is not about reciprocity, but about extending co-operation to get to the bottom of the attack. Saying that SAARC Summit will be held in Islamabad in November, Mr Basit hoped that it will help create more synergies and win-win situations for the member countries.
