Peace initiative gets boost as 155 militants surrender in Manipur

155 militants belonging to four groups surrendered today in Manipur. This has further boosted the peace initiative taken by of the State and Centre Government. These militants laid arms at a ceremony at the First Manipur Rifles Complex in Imphal this afternoon. They also handed over 91 weapons including AK -Rifles, Lethod Guns, IED etc. Eight cadres of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup also surrendered with four weapons at today’s ceremony.

In the last twelve months, many underground organizations of the state including United People’s Party of Kangleipak, three groups of Kangleipak Communist Party, two groups of Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup-Military Defence Force, two umbrella organizations of Kuki militant outfits-Kuki National Organization and United People’s Front have already surrendered . The militant outfits have already signed tripartite Suspension of Operation Agreement with the State Government and the Centre.
