People's Democratic Party, PDP, President Mehbooba Mufti today said her priority is not to cobble up majority for the sake of government in Jammu and Kashmir. She was talking to media persons in Jammu after meeting Governor N N Vohra on government formation in the State.
While invoking development agenda of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, she said the people have given a decisive as well as divisive mandate, which is a big responsibility for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PDP President said both Congress and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) should use the opportunity to reach out to people of Jammu and Kashmir so that it can truly become a model State.
The Assembly elections threw up a hung verdict with PDP emerging as the single-largest party with 28 seats in the 87-member lower house. BJP is the second-largest party with 25 seats followed by National Conference at 15 and Congress with 12. Smaller parties and independents won seven seats.
