BJP is awaiting PDP's nod to go ahead with govt formation after PDP elects its Legislature Party leader. The State is under Governor's Rule since January 08. After January 17 meeting, the PDP had announced to continue alliance with BJP without preconditions.

This had set all speculations to rest on the formation of new government and paved way for Mehbooba Mufti to be the first woman chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir.
AIR correspondent reports:- Notwithstanding the discussion and the feedback that would have emanated during today's 2nd official meeting of PDP after demise of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the concern expressed by PDP Chief spokesperson Naeem Akhtar had a clear meaning.

The Party wants concrete assurance from BJP national leadership especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the implementation of Agenda of Alliance before PDP could be enough comfortable to carry forward the alliance. Invoking Late Mufti Sayeed's vision based on trust, PDP expressed its core policy of better governance for economic development in J&K.

The Party also brought into focus the need to resolve internal and external dimensions of J&K problems that is likely to usher into an era of peace and tranquility in the sub-continent through cordial India Pakistan relations. Meanwhile, Mehbooba Mufti has called a Legislature Party meeting tomorrow. The move is seen as a significant step in the process of govt formation.
