PC to review anti-naxal operations in Jharkhand

Union Home Minister P. Chidambram is arriving in Ranchi this afternoon to review the Naxal violence in Jharkhand.

The Home Minster will have talks with the state Chief Minister Arjun Munda, State Director General of Police and other officers over the issue of Naxal violence to take stock of the situation.

AIR correspondent reports the Director General of CRPF Mr. Vijay Kumar and other senior Home Ministry officers are also accompanying the Home Minister.

From few hours from now, the entire top brass of Jharkhand security apparatus would be in meeting with the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.

The meeting is significant in view of two things- First the Saranda factor. The Naxals have been pushed out of mineral rich Saranda forest range by recent police campaigns against them.

That is followed by already approved Saranda Action Plan for the development of the most severely affected forest range, which is being assisted by the Union Rural Development Ministry.

The second factor is that, despite Saranda, there is increase in Naxal violence in Khunti and Latehar districts of the state in recent times.
