The Planning Commission has given investment clearance for the scheme Rehabilitation, Renovation and Modernization of critically damaged channels of Haryana Irrigation network. The project whose estimated cost is over 115 crore will be completed in the financial year 2012-13. According to an official release, 36 critically damaged channels of Bhakra Canal System and 74 critically damaged channels of Lift Canal System of sate will be renovated. A part from these, 27 critically damaged channels of Western Yamuna Canal System will also be modernized. The project will involve additional irrigation of over 31 thousands hector in the sate.
