Prasar Bharati is considering broadcasting Radio programmes of A.M. channel though mobile phones in addition to its existing F.M. channels programmes. Giving this information on the sidelines of a programme in Kolkata today Chief Executive Officer of the Prasar Bharati Jawhar Sircar said that, this initiative will increase the listeners of AIR and will also help to popularise its programmes. Sircar said that the media in the country is totally free from any kind of restrictions but feels that self regularly mechanism should be followed strictly. He said that, social networking media will take an important position in the country in coming days. Earlier, Sircar addressed a lecture on India’s Soft Power problems organised by the Institute of Foreign Policy Studies of the Calcutta University. The Vice-chancellor of the University Dr. Suranjan Das also addressed the gathering.
